Byzantine Attempt

I was recently given the opportunity to design some material for our church, St. Michael Orthodox Church. As someone relatively new to Orthodoxy, learning how to see and understand Byzantine art and typography in a way that translates well into graphic design proved to be challenging. I suspect I’ll look back at this work in a number of years (or maybe even tomorrow) and see my mistakes — but for today, I’m pleased it turned out as well as it did.

Taste of St. Michael banner part

The Taste of St. Michael image is a banner 7 feet wide and 10 feet tall, printed on two canvases sewn together for a double-sided effect, and tied to some poles alongside the road. The event was last weekend and tons of people came. I bought some coffee and creamed honey from the monks.
