A few favorites
3 January 2009
As I mentioned the other day, I have a few things I’ve wanted to share here — a few websites that I’ve come across, all of which I’ve found a certain care and quality in their design or content. I like them, and maybe you will too.
I really like all this yellow on the Princeton Architectural Press site. They make nice books and have a good blog, too.
Joel Wakeman builds beautiful, handcrafted furniture at his Integration Workshop.
Corney Arnold shoots some really great photos, my favorite set of which is the crab fishermen in the Bering Sea. His website is one of the few examples of one made entirely in Flash that actually works. Bookmarkable URLs and all (made by Gridplane).
I’ve mentioned Chris Glass’ website before. I still love it so much.
I don’t remember where I came across the Go to China website, probably one of Smashing Magazine’s big dumb posts listing Big Image Websites — and that’s really what I love about this site, the big spanning images.
The big images on Happy Cog’s design for Housing Works are really great, too. It’s likely one of the most beautifully designed websites out there right now.
I just came across Tim Van Damme’s sites recently (possibly from welovetxp) and I thought they were really well done — that’s Max Voltar and Made by Elephant.
I happened upon Moleskine’s website because I was trying to help my mom figure out what those elastic strap things should be called. I didn’t find out, but I like their site design.
The Museum of Fine Art in Boston mini site for an Edward Hopper exhibit is something of a rarity, I think. It feels so much like a museum brochure, and yet still feels so much like a website. I actually came across this in fall 2007. The design is still so wonderful I just had to share it.
What do you think of these?
